When animals stay in our adoption centers any longer than 14 days, we call them Forget-Me-Nots. Sometimes these animals have special needs that require special adopters, but many are simply overlooked for no obvious reason at all.
Petey, a 4-year-old pit bull, far exceeded the Forget-Me-Not status — he was in our care for close to seven months! During that time, Petey was adopted and returned multiple times. This energetic spark plug is very affectionate and loves every person he meets, but he doesn’t enjoy spending time with other animals. We knew the perfect family would eventually adopt Petey, so we did everything we could to make his time in shelter as comfortable as possible, including giving him a Forget-Me-Not Fun Day.
